Moving = stress
And stress = distraction
That is why it is so important to have a plan beforehand that can keep you on task when things get stressful. Otherwise you end up cowering in a corner staring at half filled boxes with a panicked look on your face trying to figure out what still needs to be done. Or maybe that's just me?
Either way, I firmly believe that the first step to a smooth moving experience is:
If you have a plan and you stick to the plan, everything gets easier.
So, I've created some checklists to keep us all organized through the moving process. If you're like me, you like to start as early as possible. I like to get the stressful part out of the way so I can spend my energy on more fun things--like blogging! But I do also realize that people come in all sorts of funny shapes and personalities, which is why I have a checklist to suit them all.

Improve Your Move--Tip 1: Decide Who You Want To Be
I'm so excited to kick off this blog with a series that could not be a more appropriate first step to "getting it together." My husband and I are preparing to embark on a brand new adventure together that begins with moving out of our wonderful life in Denver, CO to a place that is, for me at least, foreign, frightening, and far away: Austin, TX.
Now I am terribly familiar with the process of moving. This will be the 11th time I have moved in my lifetime, 8 of which have been within the last 4 years. If there was such a thing as an expert box packer, I would probably be one.
So here it goes again: the chance to start over and invest myself in becoming a new me that I've always wanted to be. And I believe that in moving, as in everything, you get out what you put in.
The good news is, if you plan ahead and organize beforehand it can be very easy to make a move go smoothly. The better news is, I'm here to share with you all my tips, tricks, and hacks to make it look easy!
I promise the rest of this series will be more hands-on and practical, but here's my first tip to Improve Your Move:
Welcome to Getting It Together!
The idea for this blog has been bouncing around in my head for quite some time now. I don't know about you, but I like to view my life as a constant challenge to improve. I try to make myself more organized, more productive, or more healthy, all ultimately as part of an effort to become more fulfilled. I can (and do) spend hours at a time browsing Pinterest to see what the lastest new "life-hacks" are--anything that can make my day-to-day simpler.
Unfortunately the bottom line is not about knowing all the things I could do better to become more contented, the bottom line is about actually DOING it. (Bummer, huh?)
So I am on a mission to prove to myself--and hopefully to the rest of you as well--that yes, indeed, it is possible! With some creative strategies, a little organization, and a healthy dose of positive encouragement I believe I can get my life together!
